ELECTION WORKER POSITIONS

These election heroes make voting possible at all of our Early Voting and Election Day polling locations! Poll Workers will check in voters and assist voters with voting equipment as needed. Workers must also be registered to vote in Travis County and able to attend any required training prior to their start date. The ability to speak both English and Spanish is a plus! Multiple locations are available.

The pay is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour.

What does someone in this position do? These elite election workers serve for an extended 12-day period (minus state holidays) at one of the early voting locations in Travis County. Workers will check in voters and provide assistance with voting equipment as needed.

What are the requirements for this position? Workers must be registered to vote in Travis County, able to attend an in-person, hands-on training class, and available to work the full 12-day period. The ability to speak both English and Spanish is a plus! Multiple locations and shifts are available. Must pass a criminal background check. What is the pay rate for this position? Positions pay $20.00 to $22.00 per hour.

What does someone in this position do? Election Day poll workers have duties similar to those of early voting workers, but everything happens in one day. Working on Election Day is long and often intense, but very rewarding. Poll Workers will check in voters and assist voters with voting equipment as needed.

What are the requirements for this position? Workers must also be registered to vote in Travis County, able to attend any required training prior to Election Day, and available to work from 6 am to 8 pm or until the polls close. The ability to speak both English and Spanish is a plus! Multiple locations are available. The pay is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour.

What does someone in this position do? Election Day poll workers check in voters and assist voters with the voting equipment as needed. They work all day on Election Day, which includes setting up prior to the polls opening and then closing down the polling place at the end of the night. Student Election Day Clerks are able to help with all these duties under the supervision of the Election Day Judge at the polling location. Election Day Clerks are paid hourly for their service at $20 per hour. Training will be provided.

What are the requirements for this position? Student Election Clerks must be 16 years old or older on Election Day, be enrolled in a public, private, or qualified home school, and be a U.S. citizen. Student Election Clerks also need the consent of their legal guardian and school principal in order to work the election.

TEMPORARY ELECTIONS POSITIONS

There are many ways to be involved in the elections process by working a temporary position at the Elections Division Office, located at 5501 Airport Blvd. These positions typically last 1-2 months surrounding a voting period. The pay is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour.

What does someone in this position do?  These diligent workers assist in the preparation, processing and qualification of Ballot by Mail applications. They assist with data entry of information of qualified applicants and prepare election materials and ballots for mailing. They accept, process, and sort all incoming mail as well as prepare and process the necessary paperwork related to official election mail.

What are the requirements for this position? They must have excellent written and oral communication skills and possess the ability to organize and alphabetize. Experience in mailroom, inventory control, customer service, call center, elections processes or training preferred but not required. Must pass a criminal background check. The pay is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour.

What does someone in this position do?  These informative and friendly workers answer inbound calls from the general public and election workers. They provide information about voter eligibility, assist election workers with voting procedures and help voters locate polling locations. They route calls to appropriate staff members, identify and escalate priority issues and track the nature of their calls.

What are the requirements for this position? They must have excellent written and oral communication skills and possess the ability to organize and alphabetize. Training will be provided. Bilingual (English and Spanish) skilled workers needed. Past experience in a call center, customer service, dispatcher, elections processes or training preferred but not required. Must pass a criminal background check. The pay is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour.

What does someone in this position do?  The Box Truck Driver is responsible for loading, unloading, and driving 24-26 ft. box trucks with lift gates to polling sites for delivery and pickup of election equipment to Early Voting and Election Day polling sites.

What are the requirements for this position? A valid Texas Driver’s License, and a good driving record is required and current or past CDL is desired but not required. Applicants must have experience with loading/unloading using lift gate systems. Position lasts 3-4 weeks during election periods, averaging up to 40 hours per week with possible overtime. Must pass a criminal background check and driving record check. The pay is $25.00 per hour.

What does someone in this position do?  Voting Equipment Technicians assist in the preparation and testing of electronic voting equipment. They also support delivery and set up of voting equipment at polling locations. During Early Voting and Election Day, these workers are part of a rapid response team assigned to support polling locations, providing on-site technical support and supply replenishment.

What are the requirements for this position? A valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, excellent Customer service skills are necessary and the ability to lift up to 35 lbs. is required. Experience with mobile devices and apps is required. Training on elections procedures, operation of the electronic voting equipment, election law, and troubleshooting techniques will be provided. Must pass a criminal background check and driving record check. The pay is $20.00 $22.00 per hour.

What does someone in this position do?  These safety-conscious and methodical workers prepare supply boxes, load equipment and materials onto vans, and deliver and retrieve materials to and from election day and early voting polling locations.

What are the requirements for this position? A valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, be able to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly. This job requires the ability to accurately complete paperwork, present oneself in a professional manner, and display courteous customer service. He or she must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. The pay is $20.00 per hour.

What does someone in this position do?  Assists in general instruction of elections curriculum and training materials.

What are the requirements for this position? Must be able to lead small groups of election officials and workers in training. Must be available to work full time hours, variable schedules, and split shifts, including nights and weekends. Excellent public speaking skills, computer knowledge and written communication skills are required. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. repeatedly. Experience in elections process, customer service, teaching, or training preferred but not required. May be deployed in the field to support polling places during Early Voting and Election Day. Must pass a criminal background check. The pay is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour.
